The Illinois State Fair Museum Foundation has named its ten winners of the Illinoisan of the Day award for 2013. They will be honored at 12noon on the Farm Bureau stage under the Commodities Pavilion or on the central stage in Ethnic Village each day of the fair, which runs August 9-18, 2013 in Springfield, IL.
The museum foundation seeks nominations of Prairie State residents who volunteer in their communities, work to brighten lives of their neighbors, and represent the best of Illinois citizenship.
Here are 2013’s Illinoisans of the Day, their hometowns, and the dates on which they will be honored at this year’s Illinois State Fair:
Friday, August 9th- Jean Farris, Savanna
Saturday, August 10th- Mark & Cheryl Pence, Springfield
Sunday, August 11th- Ron Kirts, Sainte Marie Monday, August 12th- Martha Jackson, Litchfield
Tuesday, August 13th- Orion Samuelson, Huntley
Wednesday, August 14th- Lori Oldenettel, Jacksonville
Thursday, August 15th- Russell & Richard "RJ" Krause, East St. Louis
Friday, August 16th- John W. Durbin, Lovington
Saturday, August 17th- Ed Brozak, Streator
Sunday, August 18th- Robert Large, Jacksonville
Every Illinoisan of the Day will be a guest on their special day at this year’s fair, where they will be publicly introduced and receive gifts along with a personal proclamation from Governor Pat Quinn.
