It’s late Spring, and that millions of Americans are still reaching for the tissues.
The good news, there is relief available.
According to a study by the University of Rochester Medical Center (Rochester, NY), allergies plague as many as 50 million Americans. 8% of those people are allergic to pollen; that small powdery substance that leaves so many of us sniffling and sneezing come spring.
Dr. Penelope Ewbank from Allergy & Asthma of Illinois said,
“Every Spring and every Fall they always say, ‘this is the worst ever, this is the worst ever; When really, there are just high levels of allergens year ’round.”
Short from staying indoors, there’s really no way to avoid most common airborne allergens. If pills make you too drowsy, there are over-the-counter nasal sprays you can try.
The Huffington Post also has these suggestions:
-They suggest vitamin C as a natural antihistamine
-Eat spicy foods to reduce nasal congestion
-They also say if you’re stressed out, you could be making your allergies worse
If you’re still unsure what’s best for you, an allergist can point you in the right direction, so your seasonal allergies never get in the way of your breathing & seeing.
