A study shows Kit Kat’s are Illinois’ favorite Halloween candy.
The numbers were collected by CandyStore.com, which sells candy in bulk to customers online.
The company says it looked at sales over 11 years (2007 to 2017), and specifically in the months close to Halloween, to figure out what each state’s favorite candies are. It says major candy manufacturers and distributors helped it reach its numbers.
Kit Kat replaced Sour Patch Kids as the favorite in Illinois in 2018. Sour Patch is still Number 2 in the state, with Snickers coming in third. Reese’s moved out of the Illinois top three.
Nationally, data named Skittles as America’s favorite candy, followed by M&M’s at Number 2 and Snickers third.
The National Retail Federation predicts a small drop in money spent on candy purchases nationwide this Halloween, from $2.7 billion in 2017 to $2.6 billion in 2018.
