The 45th annual St. Jude telethon and 41st annual St. Jude Run events are this Saturday in downtown Peoria. Radio Peoria is proud to show our support, our very own Anna Kinkade will be running for her 8th year and we ask you to show your support too. We encourage you to donate to a runner, during the telethon and if you see runners on the streets of central Illinois this Saturday, please show your support by slowing down, moving over and give them a friendly honk and wave!
This weekend is extra special because St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital turned 60 this year!! They are celebrating by hosting the 60th Anniversary Immersive Experience Saturday only inside the Peoria Civic Center, we are 1 of 12 events across the nation that receives this honor!
What is a 60th Anniversary Immerse Experience? If you have never been to the hospital, or have no desire to go to Memphis and see the hospital, this is the next best thing. You will be greeted by a 12-foot tall, replica statue of St. Jude that greets all patients and families who enter the doors of St. Jude. Inside you will guide yourself through different sections that highlight the research, the art, and all the things that YOU make possible through your donations and fundraising.
This once in a lifetime event is open to the public and located inside the Peoria Civic Center, Exhibit Hall A, from 2-9pm this Saturday (masks will be required inside the experience).
You can also cheer on our St. Jude Run Participants on the official parade route. Monroe to Main to Jefferson and ending at Runners’ Row on Fulton Street. Parade participants will line up at 4:30 and the parade will begin at 5pm.
All new this year is the Runners’ Row and will include check presentation stages, music, photo opportunities, Runners’ Hydration Station and Runners’ Fuel Station featuring Chick-fil-A and Avanti’s.
A favorite part of any St. Jude Day is the The Store. Find your favorite apparel and more at the City Hall parking lot.
Last, but not least, telethon VIPs, St. Jude Run participants and fans are welcome to join in the celebration at the beer tent located at the corner of Fulton and Jefferson in the Peoria Civic Center’s Cedric’s Lawn.
