Local grocery stores including Hy-Vee, Kroger, and Walmart are hiring due to high grocery depends.

Grocery stores have seen an influx in business during the coronavirus pandemic. Since several stores have seen an increase in business, they are asking for additional staff.

According to WEEK-TV, Hy-vee is just one of the stores hiring at all of their Peoria area locations.

Store director, Elise Scheil, says Hy-vee is looking for temporary workers because business has been so heavy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’d be very beneficial for us as well as the community because a lot of people have lost their jobs and this level of business probably won’t sustain forever, so it’s a way that folks in the community can help us and we can help the community by providing job opportunities,” Scheil said.

Applications can be found at hy-vee.com/careers. The store is looking for temporary stock people, temporary cashiers, and temporary courtesy clerks.
