After more than 25 years leading the Peoria Chiefs, Rocky Vonachen is calling it quits.

According to week.com, the longtime president of the team oversaw the construction of Dozer Park in Downtown Peoria in 2002 and helped lead the team to record attendance numbers. His father, Pete Vonachen, founded the team in 1983.

Earlier this week, the longtime president Rocky Vonachen said,

“It is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from baseball and my position as President of the Peoria Chiefs. I have been blessed for the last 25 years to have been able to do something that I truly loved each and every day and to carry on the vision that my father started so many years ago to improve the quality of life in Central Illinois while providing the best entertainment and professional baseball to the fans.”

The Peoria Chiefs Board said General Manager Jason Mott will run the organization going forward. Mott was the 2017 Midwest League Executive of the Year.
