The National Weather Service of Lincoln, IL, issued wind chill warnings and advisories across The Land Of Lincoln this New Year.
According to The Associated Press & wgem.com, wind chill warnings were set for parts of northern and central Illinois earlier this week, with forecast wind chills of between -20 to -35 on Sunday night into New Year’s Day and mid-morning Tuesday.
Weather service forecasters say actual air temperatures fell to -15 degrees on Sunday and Monday nights in parts of central Illinois.
Wind chill advisories were set Sunday afternoon in the Chicago, IL area and parts of central and southern Illinois.
In The Windy City, the National Weather Service’s forecast on New Year’s Eve, the temperature at midnight was -2 with a -19 wind chill.
As winter and cold weather continues on, the weather service advised avoiding prolonged time outdoors and dressing in layers.
