In its 55th year as Peoria’s largest art event, the fine art fair continues the tradition in our art enthusiastic city!
As one of the oldest art fairs in the country, the Peoria Art Guild Fine Art Fair is nationally recognized for it picture-perfect riverfront setting, 143 jury-selected artists from across the U.S. and around the world, hands-on art activities for kids and adults, musical performances, and palate-pleasing food for some Central Illinois favorites being held on September 23th and 24th.
Original works of art will include jewelry, painting, ceramics, photography, digital art, printmaking, mixed media, metal, glass, wood, sculpture, fiber, leather, and wearable fiber. This year, the Fine Art Fair will have a local spin. Thirteen juried artists will have special booth signage indicating they are from Peoria’s vibrant art community.
This upcoming event is not just about art, but music, and food as well; here is a small sampling of what will be on display:
COMMUNITY MURAL

If you think the kids are the only ones having fun, the interactive Community Mural is designed for adults.
It takes hundreds of people to participate in this fun, hands-on activity and everyone attending the Fair can watch as the mural literally comes together tile-by-tile over this two-day event. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s Peoria’s nod to our local and extremely talented poster artist Eric E. Bell. Free.
JACOB GRANT’S POTTERY EXPERIENCE
Well-known Peoria artist, Jacob Grant, will provide an on-site pottery making experience for a small fee. Participants can choose to spend a half hour or an hour making their own personal piece of pottery. Grant’s 24′ white trailer will be located under the McCluggage Bridge and will be open during the hours of the fair.
KIDS ART FESTIVAL
Admission $5
The Kids Art Festival will be loaded with activities and art projects. There will be seven different stations with beginner and intermediate level projects at each station. This year’s focus will be on the different types of art including: Sculpture (building with craft sticks), Fiber and Design (CD weaving and T-shirt painting), Printmaking (mono and string printing), Drawing (still life and self-portraits), Painting (using tempera and acrylics to paint different types of fish), Art History (upside-down drawing and painting with watercolor pencils in the manner of old Masters; projects will include take-home information on each artist) and of course, the ever popular Face Painting. MUSIC
On entering the fair, you can enjoy musical selections piped throughout our scenic riverfront as a backdrop to your viewing and purchasing of the art on display.
FOOD
It’s not your typical “fair” food, but exceptional palate-pleasers from some of Peoria’s favorites. Expanded food options will be available at this year’s fair.
