WVEL Community Scene: 20th Annual Central Illinois Black Expo

The Central Illinois Black Expo is a multicultural event with a unique mix of fun activities, exhibitors, workshops, games, entertainment and more for the entire family!

Don’t miss this year’s Central Illinois Black Expo, as they celebrate 20 years, Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 11am – 7pm in Exhibit Halls B and C at the Peoria Civic Center. The Theme for this year is, “Join The Celebration!”

This year’s Expo will be jammed packed with activities, games, music, food, exhibitors, entertainment, and more.

The celebration begins with entertainment and activities catered to the more mature crowd; Then, for the younger audience, there will be music and appearances by rapper/activist David Banner.

For the kids, they will enjoy local singers, dancers, and some special guest.

Last year’s Expo included a movie premier with live performances and an Avantgarde Fashion Show presented by the X Factor Agency.

You will not want to miss what they have in store for you this year.

The Expo will also include:

*Business workshops sponsored by the Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce continuing their “Building Your Business” and “Creating Your Brand” series geared to help businesses move to the next level.

*If you missed last year’s “Passing the Torch Business Competition”, its back. Illinois entrepreneurs of all ages can present their business model to an exclusive panel of judges to compete for venture capital, mentorship, and operational services. The competition gives aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to get critical feedback and direction from key business professionals and industry leaders.

*Exhibitors from around the state showcasing various products and services.

*Education and Health Workshops.

*Back to School Hair Cut-A-Thon with FREE haircuts for the kids.

*A Future CEO and Business Owners area for children 8 – 16. Does your child have a business? Would you like them to showcase it at the Expo? They can sell their products or services at the Expo for FREE. Products include candy, jewelry, T-shirts, art, books, nail services, and more. This area has limited space so contact the Expo right away.

*An interactive Health and Wellness Fair with free screenings.

*The Expo’s version of popular game shows with great prizes.

*Bowling courtesy of the National Bowling Association (TNBA)’s Youth Bowling Program. Sign up for this year’s bowling league.

*Tera’s Kidz Corner’s “Passport to the World” with crafts, games, and prizes.

*A 3 Point Shootout.

*Face painters, balloon artist, hula hoop contest, inflatables, and more.
