Illinois State University has joined the growing list of Illinois schools to ban hoverboards in student housing facilities; a few weeks ago, University Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign & Bradley University had posted this same issue.
According to cinewsnow.com and the university, the decision was made after several safety commissions recommended that the boards be watched at all times while charging, due to a possible fire hazard.
The university also said that hoverboards are not permitted anywhere in University Housing and Campus Dining facilities, effective immediately.
Residents will have until Wednesday,February 10th to remove their hoverboards from campus housing. After the deadline has passed, hall staff will hoverboards will be confiscated and students will receive a policy violation.
Students at Illinois State will be able to collect their hover board as they leave campus.
