Drivers will soon get one less piece of mail and have one more thing to remember.

According to cinewsnow.com and cyberdriveillinois.com, earlier this week, the Secretary of State’s Office announced that the ongoing budget stalemate is forcing them to cut back on postage costs.

The office will no longer send out license plate sticker renewal notices.

By not mailing out notices, the Secretary of State’s Office saves $450,000 dollars each month.

The office’s spokesperson David Druker said,

“The feeling is that if we can save that money to actually mailing out permits and license plates and some of the other things we have to do that would be better use than the notice.”

A friendly reminder to all drivers, check your license plate stickers.

If you still want to receive a notice, you can get one through email by signing up on the Secretary of State’s website at
