We all know that cops use radar guns for checking the speed on your vehicle to see how fast you are going.
According to cinewsnow.com, new police radar guns may soon show law enforcement officials whether or not you’re texting.
Also, cnet.com reports that Virginia technology company ComSonics is developing a radar gun that shows officers the radio frequencies emitted by the phones of texting drivers.
ComSonics Calibration Services Manager Malcolm McIntyre says that,
"….there are certain legal obstacles to be overcome. What's fascinating about this technology is that it can allegedly distinguish between texting and calling. For example, (in the state of Virginia) texting and driving is illegal, whereas talking on the phone and driving is not (for adult drivers)."
Some concerns have been raised about the legality of intercepting these radio transmissions, as well as the gun’s ability to determine whether the driver or a passenger is texting.
