According to cinewsnow.com, several Central Illinois Area Universities made the list of America's Best Colleges 2015 released earlier this week by U.S. News and World Report.
Illinois State, Bradley, and Western Illinois University all made the list.
Macomb’s WIU was named a Best Midwestern University for the 10th consecutive year. Overall, they ranked 39th out of 109 schools in the top tier. It is one of only four Midwestern colleges appearing in the top 50 list. Last year, they ranked 48th.
WIU President Jack Thomas said,
“We are providing our students with the quality education they deserve and that we remain true to our vision of being a leader in educational quality, opportunity and affordability among regional public universities."
ISU in Normal, was ranked the 74th best public university in the country, up from 81st last year.
Illinois State President Larry Dietz said,
“Though numbers only tell part of the story, it is numbers like these that show the nation what we already know. Illinois State is a national leader in education, dedicated to providing rigorous and innovative learning opportunities that prepare our students for success.”
Bradley University in Peoria rated number four overall in the Midwestern region. The engineering program is in the top 35 nationwide.
Bradley President Joanne Glasser said,
“Such national recognition is a testament to the commitment of our faculty and staff, who work tirelessly to provide a world-class education to our students.”
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign tied with five other schools at number 42 for best national university and sixth for best undergraduate engineering programs.
In Galesburg, Knox College tied 81st for the best national liberal arts college.
In Eureka, Eureka College came in 31st place for best regional college in the Midwest category.
