The city of Washington, IL is rallying to get back on its feet after the devasting tornado that hit the area last year. It's a long process and every little bit helps.
According to cinewsnow.com, the Green Ribbon Foundation volunteers came all the way from Chicago to plant 1000 trees with local residents on this past weekend.
All sorts of trees were planted, all donated by Grainger.
Green Ribbon Foundation founder Amber Autumn said, "The trees are a symbol of hope and growth in a city that has to really focus on rebuilding. The tornado took not only houses, they also took a lot of the forest and bushes. So that's why we're here today to replenish and reforest."
If you would like to sponsor a tree, go to www.greenribbonfoundation.org for more information.
All the proceeds will go to the foundation's Washington Disaster Fund.
