What do you get when you have a 100 yard swim/5 mile bike/1 mile run? You have the 2014 Abe's Mini Triathlon held in Petersburg, IL on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 12noon!
The race includes a 100 yard swim in the heated indoor Petersburg PORTA pool, then a 5 mile bike ride down a flat rural road, and finishes with a 1 mile run on a closed course. This event is tailored to the novice triathlete and will serve as a great introduction to triathlon for children and adults.
When you finish the swim you will be able to step into the locker rooms to dry off and change to biking and running clothes if you prefer. The locker rooms are located poolside as you leave the pool. Please get yourself comfortable for the bike and run. A suggestion to all of the race participants would is to leave your towel and dry clothes in the locker room while swimming. They will be safe during the swim.
All ages are welcome and Clydesdales, Athenas, and teams are encouraged to enter. An awards ceremony will follow after the last runner crosses the finish line
As a USAT (USA Triathlon) Parafriendly Triathlon, they will now be hosting male and female paratriathletes in both wheelchair and ambulatory divisions starting at 11:45am.
