The Peoria Riverfront Museum’s Giant Screen Theater presents the free live national screening of the series premiere of “Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey,” hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. This event will be taking place on Sunday, March 9, 2014.

The 8pm live screening will be preceded by a showing of “The Lives of Stars” episode from the original PBS series created and hosted by Carl Sagan, “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.”

The public is invited to a casual "Ask our Astronomer" meet and greet, where Nick Rae, planetarium learning coordinator, will field questions about astronomy and the universe.

“Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey,” premieres nationwide across ten 21st Century Fox networks, including Fox, FX, National Geographic (Nat Geo), and Nat Geo Wild. The new series is a sequel to Sagan’s original series (“Cosmos: A Personal Voyage”) which first aired in 1980.

New series presenter Tyson is the former host of the PBS’ “NOVA Science Now,” which ran from 2006 to 2011. The creators behind the new series are Ann Druyan, widow of Sagan, and Steven Soter, who were also co-creators of Sagan’s original series.

Cosmos Giant Screen Theater tickets are free, but seating is limited.  Please make reservations with the Museum ticket desk at 309-686-7000.
