The Worldwide Day of Play (WWDOP), an entire day dedicated to active play, where Nickelodeon goes completely "dark" for three hours, turning off programming to encourage kids to get up, get out and go play, with local activities taking place at the Glen Oak Amphitheatre throughout the day on Saturday, October 5th beginning at 11am in Peoria, IL.
Admission to this event is free.
Performance Schedule includes: Julie K performance at 11am, an anti-bullying program provided by Center for Prevention of Abuse at 12Noon, the ELITE Pulses of Hope Drumline at 12:30pm, Zumba for All Ages at 1pm, Children's Community Theatre at 1:30pm,
the Explosion All Star Cheer and Dance Team at 2pm and the Harmony in Blue, and the Jazz Ensemble of the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest at 3 pm.
Also, the PNC Mobile Learning Adventure will be on hand featuring activities for parents with children including interactive kiosks, the What I Want to Be When I Grow Up photo station, crafts and educational materials. The Touch-A-Truck will be available all day plus the forestry bucket truck, forestry knuckle boom, tree spade and tandem dump truck from the Peoria Park District, a fire truck from the Peoria Fire Department, nuisance abatement and police car from the Peoria Police Department, a tow truck from Illinois Valley Towing, an ambulance from Advanced Medical Transport. a bus from CityLink and the fire safety house will also be on hand.
Other Activities include Planks on the Playhouse (at the Glen Oak Pavilion), Orienteering Course, Hook A Kid on Golf, March Madness 2 Ball (zoo parking lot), Obstacle Course, Photo Booth, Fire Safety House, Pickleball and Luthy Botanical Garden tours at 11am & 1pm.
There will also be discounted Peoria Zoo admission everyone pays the children's price all day.
