The National Weather Service for Peoria, IL has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect for the entire WVEL-AM listening area through Tuesday morning (May 28th).
Heavy rainfall of 1-3" will be possible later today through later tonight with locally higher amounts in some of the more intense thunderstorms.
The ground across much of the area has been saturated with the previous rainfall over the past 24 hours. This will cause the majority of additional rain to become runoff; causing ditches to fill and water to cover low lying roads. Some flooding is expected to develop on area rivers and streams over the next few days.
Keep it locked to WVEL-AM 1140 for more weather details & updates.
Have a safe, happy, and blessed Memorial Day; whatever you do, stay dry!!
