If you’re headed to a family gathering this weekend, go ahead and have yourself some fun, eat well, and know when to say when!

According to blackamericaweb.com, there are 5 healthy tips that we all should know before we head to our eating places for the holiday weekend.

The 5 healthy eat well Memorial Day tips are as follows:

1) Snack before you go:

Why snack? Because if you show up starving, you’ll overeat. Not only will you overeat, but you’ll more than likely choose the higher-calorie and higher-fat foods. Also, if you force yourself to not eat all day prior to a party, you’ll slow down your metabolism, meaning that you’ll potentially gain more weight as you’re eating those second and third helpings of potato salad, brats, hot dogs, and burgers.

2) Take the time look around:

Check out ALL your food options before you decide on what to eat. This will help you make more sensible and conscious choices, and eat a more balanced meal.

3) Balance out your plate:

Choose one serving of lean protein, preferably barbecue chicken or fish. Then choose some healthy grilled vegetables, tomato slices, and/or salad. Try to only take a smaller portion of higher-calorie options.

4) Rethink your drink:

After you have made your plate and before you reach for the soda pop or juice drinks, make sure you go for water. It’ll help you maintain more control over how much you drink and eat.

5. Stop eating.

Know when to say when! After having that first plate, go enjoy the other great thing about parties…the guests! Enjoy conversations, play games, dance, and make the most of everything the cookout has to offer.

Hopefully these few tips that were shown here will help you on this holiday weekend and future gatherings.

Until the next time, stay safe, be Blessed, stay well, and One Love!

Happy Memorial Day!!
