Bradley-Illinois State: The War On I-74 Part I

On Tuesday night, "The War On I-74" BU-ISU game Part I took place at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, IL.

 The Illinois State men’s basketball team fell to in-state rival Bradley  for the first time in the last eight meetings, 83-77, before a crowd of 9,000 plus Tuesday evening at Carver Arena. 

The Braves scored 28 points to the Redbirds 36 points in the first half and in the second half, Bradley rallied & outscored Illinois State 55-41 for their 13th win of the season. 

The leading scorers for Illinois State were,  John Wilkins & Jackie Carmichael with 16 points a piece, Tyler Brown with 13 points, and Jon Ekey with 11 points. The leading scorers for Bradley were, Walt Lemon, Jr. with a career-high of 27 points, Tyshon Pickett & Dyricus Simms-Edwards each player scored with 15 points , and Jake Eastman & Will Egolf round out the leading scorers with 9 points a piece.

The last time the Braves defeated the Redbirds was four years ago in this month of January '09.

The Illinois State men’s basketball team is now 12-10 overall, 3-7 in MVC conference play, while the Bradley men's basketball team is now 13-9 overall, 5-5 in MVC conference play.

Just to give you a heads up on the next BU-ISU Men's basketball game, "The War On I-74" Part II, will be played at Redbird Arena in Normal, IL on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 7pn (CST).
