Flood Watch Advisory:
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln, IL, there is a Flood Watch in effect for the entire WVEL listrening area going on now until Wednesday, January 30th at 6pm CST.
Heavy rainfall is expected across the Central & Southeast Illinois listening area thihs afternoon and on tonight.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible; higher amounts are possible where thunderstorm persist.
A large part of the listening area has frozen ground and this will cause the majority of rain to become runoff causing a rapid rise of streams and area rivers.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions- A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
Be sure that you monitor later forecasts & be alert for possible flood warnings; for those who are living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should a flood occur.
