Iyanla is a life coach that has practiced what she preached. Over a decade ago she had it made as a well known author and motivational speaker. She got the attention of Oprah Winfrey and became a regular contributer on her show, in fact hosted the show several times a month. With her new found popularity on the Oprah Winfrey Show her books flew off the shelves and the money was flowing. Fast forward a few years and she ended up leaving Oprah's camp for her rival Barbara Walters. She caused a major rift between she and Oprah which lasted until the last season of Oprah's show. My husband and I watched the two-part show featuring an on-going apology from Iyanla. After that I told my husband I sure hope Iyanla gets a show on Oprah's new network because I had not seen a two hour butt kissing like that ever! All joking aside, it was a nice moment for them to come to a place of healing and now fast forward another year and Iyanla's show is a much needed hit. Iyanla Fix My Life is absolutely riveting television. Two weeks ago she had a pastor and wife facing traumatic life situations. It is rare to see real life situations being worked out on television in an authentic, unscripted way, but that is just what you get on this show. In fact, do not watching expecting a nice wrap up in a bow at the end. Many of the situations do not end as you would want them to, but that is real life. If you have not had a chance to check the show, treat yourself this weekend. Check your local listings for OWN on Saturday night. Have popcorn and tissue on hand because you just never know which you will need!
