WVEL Weather Update: Winter Storm Warning

The National Weather Service (NWS) of Lincoln, IL, has issued a Winter Strorm Warning for the entire WVEL-AM listening area for Tonight beginning at 12midnight CST until 6pm Tuesday evening.

 -Timing: Light snow will develop across the area after 3am; then will become moderate to heavy at times Tuesday morning. The snow will gradually taper off by Tuesday afternoon.

- Accumulations: Snow totals of 6-8 inches are anticipated West of the listening area; while 3-5 inches will be in the city of Peoria.

- Winds: Strong Northeasterly Winds gusting to 30 MPH will lead to cosiderable blowing and drifting snow on Tuesday morning.

-Precautinary/Preparedness Actions: A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.  If you must travel out in the storm, remember to keep an extra flashlight, food, water, an extra set of clothes, and a blanket in your vehicle in case of emergency.
