Newsline: Steamboat Days & The Peoria Riverfront

The 2019 Steamboat Days carnival will be cancelled this year because of flood waters.

In a Facebook post, the Peoria Area Community Events (PACE) announced Peoria’s annual Steamboat Days carnival is cancelled because of flooding.

In the post Thursday evening, they said,

Due to the current levels of the Illinois River in Peoria the space reserved for the carnival is flooded and will not be clean and ready in sufficient time to allow for a safe and timely setup of the planned activities. With cancellation as a last option, PACE made every effort to secure an alternate location for the carnival but was unable to do so in the short time frame. We regret we will not be able to provide this event for the community this year, but look forward to future events where we hope to see you. Thank you for your support.

According to the PACE website (www.peoriaevents.com/events/steamboat-days-festival) & WEEK-TV, Steamboat Days was supposed to happen on Father’s Day Weekend, June 13-16, 2019.

The Steamboat Classic & The Tailgate N’ Tallboys Concerts are going on as planned.
