The Melrose Chapel Church in Quincy, IL, is getting ready for its bi-annual strawberry festival.

The festival has been going on for 145 years; that’s as long as the “Run For The Roses (better known as The Kentucky Derby)!”

According to KHQA-TV, every year, the festival draws in 600 to 700 people.

Organizers say that seeing all the people who come to this yearly event, is part of what makes it fun for the congregation.

Strawberry Festival Committee Organizer, Jane Conover says,

“It’s a good time of fellowship for our congregation, as well as the community, we enjoy visiting with those we see in other venues, normally, than church, it’s just a good fellowship time.”

The festival runs 4pm to 7pm on  Saturday, June 1st at Melrose Chapel Church located at 3600 Payson Road, in Quincy.
