This week is Fire Prevention Week. The National Fire Protection Association’s campaign is, “Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire can happen anywhere.”

In a typical home, you have as little as two minutes to escape safely after the smoke alarm goes off.

According to WAND-TV, Officials offer the following advice for people:

• Look for places fire could start.
• Listen for the sound of the smoke alarm.
• Learn 2 ways out of every room.

When the smoke alarm sounds, get out and stay out.

If there is already smoke in the house, get low and go under the smoke.

If you are able, close doors behind you as you leave to help slow the spread of fire and smoke.
