A Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) professional BBQ competition featuring some of the country’s best touring teams, a backyard competition for local BBQ enthusiasts to show off their skills, 2 days of amazing bands on our entertainment stage, several top notch food.

The Central Illinois BBQ Throwdown will be held on Friday, July 20th & Saturday, 21st, 2018 at Festival Park on the Peoria Riverfront in Peoria, IL.

Thursday 07-19-2018-
2pm – 7pm Team Set up Begins

Friday 07-20-2018-
8am-7pm – Team Set up
10am-9pm – Meat Inspection (as you arrive your meat will be inspected)
4pm Team Meeting – Updated time
7pm Cooks Dinner
11pm-6am Quiet Time

Saturday 07-21-2018-
7am-8am Coffee and Doughnuts for competitors
10:30am Judges Meeting
11:55am-12:05pm Chicken Turn-in
12:25pm-12:35pm Ribs Turn-in
12:55pm- 1:05pm Pork Shoulder Turn-in
1:25pm- 1:35pm Beef Brisket Turn-in
4:30pm Awards Ceremony – 3rd floor Gateway Building – Updated time and place

CIBBQ History-

This event was started in 2011 for two reasons:

1. To bring the thrill of professional KCBS BBQ to Central Illinois; and

2. To raise money for very worthy local charities.

Since then the event has grown each year. This growth can be attributed to the hard work of our organizational committee and our volunteers and the support of our great community!

In 2016 our event moved to Festival Park at the Peoria Riverfront. Our event features the following: A KCBS professional BBQ competition featuring some of the country’s best touring teams. A backyard competition for local BBQ enthusiasts to show off their skills. 2 days of amazing bands on our entertainment stage. Several top notch food.

All proceeds from our event go to local charities. To date we have donated over $70,000.00 to those charities. They hope to keep increasing that number each year!
