WVEL News/Education Scope: Peoria Area High Schools Ranked Among State’s Best

Several Central Illinois high schools made the grade for the top 100 in the state.

According to WEEK-TV & The U.S. News and World Report, The Best High Schools 2018 list included several area schools; Richwoods High School in Peoria ranked 50th, with an 81 percent graduation rate. Tremont High School ranked 55th, Morton High School ranked 57th, and Metamora Township High School ranked 63rd. Elmwood High School was ranked 81st in the state.

Several area high schools also won non-ranked “bronze” medals from U.S. News and World Report.

The publication ranked the schools using this methodology.

The state’s highest ranked high school on the list is Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago, IL, with a 98 percent graduation rate and 93.4 percent of students ready for college upon graduation.
